Dr. Nelson M. Pampolina is recognized for his important contributions in the field forest fungi. Pampolina is presently an Associate Professor 6 at the Department of Forest Biological Sciences, College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños. Nelson obtained his PhD in Environmental Biology from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. He finished his MS and BS degrees in Forestry at UPLB. He teaches courses such as Forest Botany, Taxonomy of Forest Seed Plants, Plant Physiology, Fundamentals of Forest Ecology, Introduction to Protected Area Management, Forest Ecology, Forest Mycology, Forest Microbiology and others. Nelson has served as Vegetation Consultant on forestry-based projects and as Terrestrial Ecologist for Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Monitoring of various organizations.
