Dr. Binag was awarded a Fulbright Research Fellowship (2006) at Pennsylvania State University under Prof. Thomas E. Mallouk on the “Development of Segmented Conducting Polymer Nanosensors for Environmental Application”. In the field of Chemistry, she was awarded the 2014 Outstanding Achievement Award in Chemistry awarded by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) of the Department of Science and Technology and the 2001 Outstanding Young Scientist (OYS) given by National Academy of Science and Technology. Her research interests are on: a.) Fabrication of Conducing Polymer-Based Chemical Sensors and Biosensors b.) Preparation and Characterization of Composite Conducting Materials c.) Growth of Conducting Nanorods and Nanowires d.) Fabrication and Characterization of Flexible Supercapacitor Electrodes These brought forward a number of Scientific and Technical Publications published in international and local scholarly journals together with her graduate and undergraduate research advisees. She has shared the output of her researches in numerous conferences and symposia here in the Philippines and overseas.
